Why use it?
If you want to know how much you spent on coffee last month this is the place for you.
This is also great tool to check on you spend in different months in more detail. For example, maybe, you explored the 'outgoings by tag' widget & noticed a particular peak in your spending for a particular month & want to explore why.
You could use this tool to check on your spend in that month & compare it to other months of the year when your spending might change again.
How it works
A good ol’ pie chart showing you your total spend by category in a given month & dig into the associated spend areas & transactions.
- Set your date range: click the ‘calendar ‘icon in the top right & select either a pre-set or customer date range. Last months spend is a good place to start.
- Decide which tags you want to include: you might want to exclude some spend categories, for example transfers. Just click the ‘settings’ (cog) icon on the top right & untick any tag you want to exclude.
- The 'other' section is slightly different. If any Group total is less than 5%of your total outgoings, they are grouped under the 'other' section. Viewing this section, you will see both Group and Tag level figures.
- Explore your spend break down: click on a segment to see further breakdown of spend. You can even jump to the transactions associated with this period by clicking ‘view transactions’
This widget can help you plan your budgets – for example, in the run up to Christmas you might know you are likely to be spending more (all those presents & parties add up). You can use this widget to look back at your spend in December last year to help you work out how much you think you are likely to spend.
