This article is for those users that have forgotten/changed their Money Dashboard Classic username, password or email and have been locked out. If you have forgotten information for your bank provider when trying to connect/refresh your bank accounts (for example, HSBC login details) then we have some specific provider articles but you will need to contact your provider to sort this out.
What to do if you have been Locked Out
Introduction
To access your Money Dashboard Classic account, you will need the email address and password you have used when you first created the account.
Problems with Email Addresses
The email address field is not case sensitive, but please note you cannot use abbreviated versions of an email address to login if it does not match the registered address. So if you sign up with jane.smith@googlemail.com then trying jane.smith@gmail.com won't work. During a request to reset your password, it will be sent to the email address that you have signed up with.
I have forgotten my Email Address
If you forget your email address then you need to go to the Money Dashboard Classic Login page. Click Forgotten your details then Select Your Email Address. You will then need to provide your name, date of Birth and return email address. There are now 2 possible options
- If your return email address is actually your old registered email address you will receive an automatic reply telling you its correct. (This means your password is incorrect so click here)
- If the email address you enter is not your registered email address then we are going to need more information from you. The form you have filled in will be sent to our support team who will get back in contact with further advice.
I typed in my registered email address wrong
There are 2 possible options here.
- If you know the typo in your email then log in using that. Then change the email address. To do that click go to Changing your Email Address.
- If you don't know the email address then you need to contact support so that we can give you a hand.
Changing your email address
Go to the Desktop version of the app. Login to your Money Dashboard Classic account and click on the cog in the top right hand corner. Select My settings and then you can change it in there.
Problems with Passwords
Please note passwords are case sensitive and must be at least 8 characters long. They must also contain at least one upper case letter and one number. The following special characters are also acceptable for use in a password `¬!"£$%^&*()-_=+[]{};'#:@~\|,./<>?. Spaces are not allowed and care should be taken to ensure no leading or trailing spaces are included if you are pasting in the password from another application.
I have forgotten my password
If you have forgotten your password then you need to go to the Money Dashboard Classic Login page. Click Forgotten your details then Select Your Password. Use this to send yourself an email to your registered email address which contains instructions and a link to the Password Reset Form. There are now 2 options:
- If you have completed a full registration of your Money Dashboard Classic account (supplied a Date of Birth and Postcode) then the Password Reset Form will require you to enter these details, then choose a new password.
- If you have not completed the full registration then the Password Reset Form will not request any additional information and you only need to choose a new password.
Resetting your Password from within Money Dashboard Classic
You might want to change your password to something else. To do this go to the desktop version of the app, click on the cog in the top right hand corner, then My settings from the drop down menu and finally Login and Security.
I have been Locked Out of My Account
If you enter an incorrect password three times in a row your account will be temporarily locked and you will receive an email telling you that your account has been locked.
Your account locks for 30 minutes and there is nothing any of us can do. Don't try and reset any details in this 30 minute period. After the 30 minute period we recommend that you check that your email is correct and password is correct.
