So what is a Tag?
When you are looking at your transactions on Money Dashboard you might notice the tag column.
Tagging is the quickest route to making you a money master. To recap, a tag is:
Tags = The ‘category’ that you give to a transaction
Keeping on top of your tagging is a great way to stay in control of your finances and will ensure that all your budgets and reporting stays accurate. Tags are the backbone of your Money Dashboard. We pull in all your spending data and automatically “tag” your spend with categories to help you understand your spend. So rather than seeing all your spend in isolated transactions you can get a sense of what you're actually spending in certain areas. It doesn't really matter if you bought some of your groceries at Lidl and some in Sainsburys - what does matter is how much you spent overall.
Auto- Tagging and Untagged Transactions
Now, some of you might be thinking, why are some of my transactions already tagged? Well, just between us, the software ninjas are pretty smart and they will automatically tag some transactions for you. You can thank us later. The best way to keep on top of untagged transactions that don't get automatically assigned by the software ninjas is to log on reguluarly.
You will see a small red 'badge' on your transactions page with the number of transactions that are not yet tagged. Click on the red text "you have untagged transactions" on the transactions tag, this will quickly filter your list & you can easily add tags to ensure your dashboard reports are in top shape.
A transaction may also have a tag you don’t think is right but don't worry. You can edit it to whatever you like. (Just see Below)
How to Add or Edit a Tag on a Transaction
Adding and Editting tags is really easy. Please just follow the steps below.

If you want to do custom tags I would recommend that you read the articles about Tagging Levels and how to add a custom tag first.
