Known Issue connecting to/refreshing my NS&I accounts
Why is this issue happening?
If you are experiencing an issue with connecting to NS&I, this could be due to the account not being supported. At present Money Dashboard only supports current, savings and credit card accounts. We hope to be able to support other account types in the future (eg, loans, mortgages, pensions, bonds, investments, etc).
Previously when users connected to NS&I on Money Dashboard only supported Savings type accounts would be returned (eg, Direct Saver, Direct ISA, etc).
But for some time now our data provider Yodlee have also been incorrectly returning unsupported account types (eg, Premium Bonds, Guaranteed Growth Bonds, Investment Accounts, etc).
We believe that this may have been down to the NS&I not making a clear distinction between account types and Yodlee incorrectly identifying these unsupported account types as normal Savings accounts.
However, since the recent site changes Yodlee notified us that NS&I is now displaying the different account types separately (categorised between Savings/Banking & Investment type accounts).
As a result Yodlee have advised us that it will now only be possible to return the supported transactional Savings type accounts (eg Direct Saver/ISA) and other investment type accounts such as Premium Bonds will no longer be supported.
What does this means for me?
Unfortunately this means that if you have previously added accounts such as Premium Bonds, Guaranteed Growth Bonds, etc to Money Dashboard it will no longer be possible to refresh them. If you already have a mixture of Savings and Investment accounts from NS&I added to Money Dashboard (for example say a Direct ISA and Premium Bonds) then the account will continue to refresh without returning an error code, but transaction and balance data will only be updated on the Direct ISA, not the Premium Bonds. If you have already added, or are trying to add, a supported Direct Saver/Direct ISA account and are getting an error please let us know so we can investigate further.
Please accept our apologies for the frustration and inconvenience this may have caused. We are very disappointed that it will no longer be possible to update accounts that users have already added, and as previously mentioned we would like to be able to support these account types in the future.
What can I do about it?
As a workaround in the meantime you can use the use the **Offline Sources** feature to manually enter and update balances for things such as unsupported accounts, accounts that don't have an online banking facility, cash in hand, private loans/debts and assets. You can also choose to include these items in your overall balance. At present it is not possible to manually import transactions for these Offline Sources accounts but our development team are considering introducing this feature.
1. How to add an Offline Source and Edit the Balance of an Offline Source
On both the web version and mobile app you can create a new Offline Sources account by selecting it from the Add Accounts list. Either type 'offline sources' in the Search all banks box, or scroll down the list to locate it.
To edit the balance of an existing Offline Source click/tap the refresh icon for that account, and enter the new balance in the pop that appears.
