This article outlines what might have happened if you have had problems migrating (or 'switching') your account to an Open Banking connection. The following example uses a Royal Bank of Scotland account but you will go through similar steps regardless of which provider you are on.
Step 1: Select 'Switch account to Open Banking".
Step 2: You will be directed to your online banking site to confirm what accounts you want to connect. We will automatically link up your existing accounts to keep all your spending history.
Step 3: In the event that our system is unable to match your accounts you will be directed to confirm which of your existing accounts they map to. Click on - 'Ok let's go'
Step 4: Pick the accounts you want to link together making sure to double-check it's the correct account selected to prevent duplicates from being pulled through
If you can't see a new account to match to, it might be because
- The account isn't available on Open Banking - check supported accounts here
- It's there but you don't recognise the name! - if your bank doesn't provide the proper name for your account it defaults to " British Pound Account". We advise checking the balance to match your accounts.
If you made a mistake and didn't match an account but it was available from your bank, you can either "switch" again - by selecting "switch" on the account managment menu
Note: If there was a new account offered by your bank and you didn't have it connected to Money Dashboard already you will need to add it as new. Simply follow the "add account" process.
